Milton Keynes Council have asked us to relay the following information regarding changes to local bus services from Monday 3rd November, of benefit to students travelling to Ousedale School sites in both Newport Pagnell and Olney.
Newport PagnellThe double deck bus will cease to be used on service 21 in the morning, but a new journey will be provided on Z & S route 601 from Olney Yardley Road to Newport Pagnell Market Hill via Olney Aspreys and Olney Market Place opposite the Bull. This journey will be operated by a double deck bus and the intention is that Olney students use this journey in preference to the service 21 journey. The 601 journey will not serve Emberton or Sherington which are served by route 21 (Emberton and Sherington) and route 40 (Sherington).
The current service 21 and 37 journeys will continue to operate from Olney in the morning.

My name is Paul McFadden and I am the new Deputy Headteacher of Ousedale School, based at the Olney campus.
I am delighted to be joining a forward-thinking school that offers so many opportunities to its students and staff. I believe that all members of the school community should be valued and encouraged to succeed in a manner that promotes a commitment to life-long learning and I believe in the promotion of continuous learning, where students and staff are motivated by, and buy into, a desire for excellence in all that they do. I believe that traditional values, such as self-belief, hard work, determination and resilience are the fundamental building blocks of a school and are important mind sets and attitudes to hold.
I am looking forward to working with students, staff and parents to ensure that Ousedale School continues to improve and that all students achieve their full potential.
Ousedale has a proud tradition of nurturing excellent mathematicians at A Level, in particular those studying Further Maths. Over recent years students taking Further Maths have successfully gone on to study Mathematics or a mathematically related degree at some of the country’s top universities including Cambridge, Warwick, Durham, Imperial College, Bristol and Leeds.Year 13 students have recently benefited from 2 courses run by the Further Maths Support Programme to help prepare them for their exams this summer and future courses. Two recent events include:
Problem Solving Conference at Warwick University
Five Year 13 students attended this conference where they were given the opportunity to use their mathematical knowledge to solve problems and discover more about Maths at university. Lectures and seminars gave students an insight into the nature of the topics they will meet in the future and advice about how to tackle problems typically found on STEP and AEA papers. Offers for Maths at Cambridge and Warwick typically include these examinations.
Complex Numbers Seminar held at Ousedale School
Students were able to work with other Further Mathematicians from other Milton Keynes schools and get to grips with a significant part of the Further Maths syllabus. Students discovered the power of Complex Numbers; from understanding the concept of imaginary numbers to working with them to solve polynomial equations and transforming them into the modulus and argument form and producing Argand diagrams. Students worked in groups sharing knowledge and ideas to solve problems and activities.
Complex Numbers is a fundamental topic in higher mathematics and as a result of the seminar that the FMSP provided, Ousedale students are able to extend their learning beyond the A Level syllabus and deepen their understanding.
