Careers, Information Advice and Guidance
Welcome to Ousedale Careers Information Advice & Guidance
We have a dedicated Careers area on our SharePoint (pupils can access this from the homepage of our website). Please spend some time looking through this to explore careers linked to your favourite subject, post 16 or post 18 options, finding virtual work experience placements, researching Labour Market Information, or grow your knowledge about apprenticeships. There is also a section looking at career stories from past pupils. The Careers area of SharePoint has been created to be a place for you to spend some time exploring your options and finding opportunities for your future.
If you have any questions or need support, please email us: careers@ousedale.org.uk
We are committed to giving quality impartial information, advice and guidance to all pupils from Years 7-13 by educating them on future opportunities and potential career paths based on their individual needs. Encouraging pupils to recognise and embrace their own distinct set of characteristics, skills and knowledge. Allowing pupils to make informed career choices based on Labour Market Information, including the different study options available and necessary qualifications required.
Ousedale undertake a varied programme of careers education and incorporate this into the curriculum. All activities are designed to develop pupil’s self-awareness and develop employability skills whilst enhancing their knowledge of different career sectors and roles. We hold a variety of career events which include employer engagement, National event visits, one to one career sessions, group work and assemblies. These are outlined in our Careers Plan 2022/23.
All pupils will have a one-to-one meeting about their career routes and post 16 options. We openly encourage them to engage with us on a regular basis to obtain the information and support they need.
Appointments can be requested by pupils, staff members or parents/carers, at any time.

Careerometer: A tool to compare jobs
The Careerometer tool will help you to compare different job roles that you may be interested in. It uses up to date labour market information collected by LMI for All. It will show you data relating to pay, weekly hours of work and future employment prospects for the job role you select.
To use the Careerometer all you need to do is click on one of the cards below. Simply type in the first career that you think you might be interested in and select from the drop down list. This will then give you the pay, hours of work and future employment prospects for that job role. You can then click on the other two cards to add your second and third choices to see the comparison.
