MK Education Award Winners!
Stuart Adamson and team are crowned Equality, Diversity and Inclusion champions at the annual MK Education Awards.
Educators from all over Milton Keynes gathered at the black tie event on Friday to celebrate the finalists of the annual MK Education Awards Evening. We are delighted to say that Stuart Adamson and the team at Ousedale school won the award for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. There were some very deserving finalists representing stiff competition, but the judges recognised the impact of the work done at Ousedale for its pupils and the broader community.
Stuart is an asset to our school, ensuring Ousedale is a school where everyone is included. Stuart was a founding member of Alphabet Soup (our LGBTQIA+ group) where he gave pupils who may have felt vulnerable in a large school setting a voice. He enabled pupils to speak out, raising awareness amongst the Senior Team so that we could ensure the school is a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. Stuart and his team helped the pupils review our policies, raise awareness of areas of the school where pupils might feel unsafe, and most importantly ensured pupils who may have previously felt overlooked, felt included. This has been particularly evident in our annual Pride weeks that Stuart along with his team of staff have developed, raising awareness of and celebrating diversity across the school. Stuart was also instrumental in working with our Diversity Leaders to put together our first Culture Week. Stuart and his team have worked hard to empower pupils. Stuart also acts as a mentor and role model to many, often supporting students one-to-one to ensure they have a trusted adult who is guiding them to make the right choices and develop their own self-esteem.
